Nostalgic Florida - Souvenir Stand by D Hackett
When I was growing up here in Florida, vacations were spent driving on two lane roads to our destination. Alone the way there were souvenir shops and I would always beg for Dad to stop so we could just look. Outside the shops were conch shells, cypress knees, oranges and grapefruit. Inside were rows of souvenirs that were popular at the time, alligator handbags; alligator heads; t-shirts that simply said "Florida"; cypress-knee lamps; and, anything made of shells including lamps, dolls, key chains, wind chimes, and more. There was also an assortment of candy and treats made with pecans along with the famous pecan logs. It wasn't enough that it looked like it came from Florida either; a souvenir had to be imprinted prominently with "Florida."
