Description
Eagle In Alaska by D Hackett
The beauty of Alaska was my inspiration for this drawning. A Bald Eagle landing on a tree stump by the water and the majestic mountains in the background. This was drawn on toned paper using pencil, colored pencil, colored markers and soft pastels.
The American Bald Eagle -
The Bald Eagle has been the national emblem of the United States since 1782 and a spiritual symbol for native people for far longer than that. These regal birds arent really bald, but their white-feathered heads gleam in contrast to their chocolate-brown body and wings. Look for them soaring in solitude, chasing other birds for their food, or gathering by the hundreds in winter. Once endangered by hunting and pesticides, Bald Eagles have flourished under protection.
My work is primarily in colored pencil on paper, using a variety of toned papers in drawing mostly North American landscapes and wildlife. My drawings are on toned paper and kept simplistic, with added texture, using pencil, colored pencil, colored markers and soft pastels. Birds are a favored subject, though my repertoire has expanded to include animals, butterflies, trees and landscapes
