Lets Play Checkers by D Hackett
The American Civil War was a tragic time in America and it is still today a sensitive issue for most people. It not only divided our nation it also divided families. Families where their loyalties and military service were divided between the Union and the Confederacy brought about brothers fighting in the same battles on opposite sides, or even of brothers killing brothers over the issues. It is a part of American history and through reenactments it can be remembered, honoring those who fought. Every soldier, Union or Confederate, were Americans; fathers, husbands, sons and brothers. Honoring these soliders is a way to show respect to those that came before us, no matter what the problem was and is a reminder to not repeat past.
