Description
Red Handle On The Corn Sheller by D Hackett
Silver Springs State Park
The cracker homestead is a replica of a 19th century pioneer settlement. This collection of buildings represents a small "Cracker'' settlement dating to the 1890s. A typical homestead of the time would have included a cabin and outbuildings such as a barn, pantry, smokehouse, and outhouse. Schoolhouses, churches, and blacksmith shops would have been found in settlements that homesteaders visited to attend social gatherings and barter for supplies.
